Nicosia EOA clarifies delay in repairing water leak in Lakatamia
The Nicosia District Self-Government Organization (EOA) has addressed public concerns regarding a delay in responding to a water leak on Akropoleos Street in Lakatamia. Authorities confirmed the leak was reported, noting that an initial inspection crew was dispatched the same day to evaluate the site, where they identified a minor flow on the sidewalk.
Following the inspection, the telemetry department determined that the issue required the installation of two new cross-connections rather than a simple repair, classifying the work as a project rather than a routine maintenance task. Because the leak was assessed as minor, EOA officials prioritized other more urgent incidents. Consequently, the repair work was officially scheduled to take place within the first ten days of October.
The organization emphasizes that their response was prompt but necessitated a technical adjustment to the water supply network. The repair is part of ongoing efforts to manage water infrastructure in the Lakatamia municipality, where multiple properties often share connections to central supply lines.
