Flu vaccine supply chain issues emerge in Greece
A significant shortage of flu vaccines has been reported in Greece as the seasonal vaccination period begins. Reports indicate that approximately 30,000 doses intended for private pharmacies are currently delayed or unavailable, with the Ministry of Health specifically noting that a scheduled shipment of 13,000 doses has failed to arrive on time.
The Greek Ministry of Health has attributed these disruptions to recent mutations in viral strains, which necessitated updates to the vaccine composition. These logistical challenges have created supply chain obstacles, leading to temporary unavailability for patients seeking immunization at private pharmacies.
Health authorities are currently under pressure to resolve these distribution issues to ensure adequate stock levels for the public. Efforts are ongoing to expedite the delivery of the remaining doses, although no specific timeline for the normalization of the supply chain has been provided at this stage.
