Gynecologist arrested in Greece for child pornography possession
On Thursday, October 8, 2026, Hellenic Police officers from the Cybercrime Division arrested a 52-year-old gynecologist on charges of possessing and distributing child pornography. The investigation was initiated following intelligence provided by the U.S.-based National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), which alerted Greek authorities that a user had uploaded illicit material to a cloud storage service.
Following a digital forensic analysis, police identified and located the suspect. During raids conducted at his residence and medical office, officers seized several digital devices, including a smartphone, a computer hard drive, a laptop, a tablet, and a microSD card. Investigators confirmed that the suspect managed the account containing hundreds of files depicting the sexual abuse of minors. The authorities have now launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the full extent of the distribution and to identify potential victims involved. The suspect is currently facing severe criminal charges related to the materials discovered.
