APOEL secures narrow victory over Nea Salamina in Cyprus League

APOEL defeated Nea Salamina with a 2-1 scoreline on October 10, 2026, during the fifth matchday of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan at the GSP Stadium. Pedroso opened the scoring for APOEL with a penalty in the 22nd minute, but Aldair equalized for the visitors in the 53rd minute. The match remained tied until the first minute of stoppage time, when Dalsio scored the winning goal following a defensive error by Nea Salamina goalkeeper Varos.

Nikos Karampetakis, serving as assistant coach in place of the suspended head coach Nikos Papadopoulos, managed the team during the press conference. He dedicated the win to a young fan named Aris who recently passed away. Karampetakis admitted that his side struggled with slow movement and thought in the first half but improved after tactical substitutions in the second half. While APOEL celebrated the three points, Nea Salamina manager Angel Lopez expressed frustration, characterizing the result as unfair given the late nature of the concession.
