Eight companies express interest in completing the Vasilikos LNG terminal
On October 9, 2026, the deadline for submitting expressions of interest for the completion of the Vasilikos liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal expired. The Natural Gas Infrastructure Company (ETYFA) received eight proposals from various international companies and consortiums. This development comes following the termination of the contract with the previous contractor, CPP, which had abandoned the project.
Among the interested parties are three major international energy construction firms: the Italian company Saipem, known for projects like the Nord Stream 1 pipeline and major infrastructure in Qatar; the Chinese firm China Harbour Engineering Company, which submitted a proposal in a consortium with the Cypriot company Cyfield; and the Israeli-based Baran International Ltd, a subsidiary of the Baran Group. These entities are recognized globally for their large-scale engineering and energy projects.
The project has faced significant delays after the departure of the original contractor, leaving the critical energy infrastructure incomplete. The evaluation of these eight submissions is the next step in the process to select a new contractor capable of finalizing the terminal. The selection process is considered vital for the energy security and infrastructure goals of the region.
