Weather update for Cyprus: unstable conditions and upcoming rain systems
A weak low-pressure system is currently affecting Cyprus, bringing partly cloudy skies and isolated rains, with a possibility of thunderstorms primarily in mountainous, inland, and northern areas. Saharan dust is expected to be present in the atmosphere throughout the day. Daytime temperatures will reach 32°C inland, around 29-30°C along the coasts, and 22°C in higher mountainous regions. Winds are expected to remain light to moderate, between 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Meteorologists report that unsettled weather will continue through early next week, with temperatures expected to drop significantly starting Monday. A more significant weather system is forecasted to arrive from the west by Wednesday afternoon, potentially bringing heavy rainfall and thunderstorms that could persist through Friday. Authorities have warned that these storms could lead to localized flooding, though a precise trajectory of this system will be confirmed on Monday as it moves from the Ionian Sea toward the Aegean and eventually Cyprus.
