Olympiacos Nicosia challenges refereeing and disputes match-fixing allegations
Olympiacos Nicosia is embroiled in a dual crisis following a 1-2 defeat against Aris Limassol on October 11, 2026. The club, led by president Petros Savvas, expressed intense dissatisfaction with refereeing decisions, particularly concerning two goals by Efage where the club claims fouls against Tamas and a player being struck in the face were ignored. The administration has officially requested the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) to appoint foreign referees for future matches, submitting supporting video and photographic evidence.
Simultaneously, the club faces controversy regarding an announcement from the Committee for Ethics and Protection of Sport, which publicly named Olympiacos in connection with suspected match-fixing in a game against Doxa Katokopias. The club categorically denies any wrongdoing, characterizing the committee's actions as unjustified and unsubstantiated. They have demanded a public clarification, threatened legal action, and requested that the match be removed from betting platforms to protect the sport's integrity. Similar concerns were also raised by Ermis Aradippou and Spartakos Kitiou regarding their own match-fixing investigations.
