New development project proposed for Limassol's historic Kerameio site
A significant real estate development is underway at the site of the historic Kerameio industrial facility on Aktaia Odos in Limassol. Initial architectural plans, prepared by the design firm UHA in collaboration with the company bbf, outline a massive project covering 62,500 square meters. The proposed concept features two high-rise towers reaching heights of up to 137 meters, encompassing a total of 546 residential units. A key component of the development strategy is the integration of the original listed Kerameio building into the modern complex.
The Kerameio site represents a vital part of Limassol's industrial history, dating back to the early 20th century when the factory produced bricks and tiles using materials sourced from the Apsiou quarries. While the current proposal is considered a preliminary architectural prototype, further details regarding the project's final design and the specific stakeholders involved are expected to be announced in the near future. The site's preservation is highlighted by the 2022 Limassol Center Area Plan, ensuring that the industrial heritage remains a central element of the modern urban redevelopment.
