German Oncology Center in Limassol receives environmental approval for expansion
On October 8, 2026, the Environmental Department of Cyprus issued a conditional approval for the expansion of the German Oncology Center (GOC) located in the Sfalagiotissa area of the Amathounta municipality in Limassol. The project, estimated at €2.4 million, received clearance without the need for a full Environmental Impact Assessment, provided specific conditions are met during construction.
The development plan covers 2,560 square meters of new building space, including 1,700 square meters for facilities and 850 square meters for a basement. Key infrastructure upgrades include new examination rooms for the dermatology department, MRI facilities, a kitchen, and storage areas. Furthermore, the project addresses social needs by incorporating seven apartments on the first floor to house specialized foreign staff or patients' relatives, alongside a daycare center capable of accommodating 56 children (24 infants and 32 toddlers).
All construction will take place on land currently used as parking, avoiding further soil disruption. This environmental decision marks a significant step in the regulatory process, though the center must still secure the necessary town planning and building permits before construction can commence.
