Omonia faces injury concerns ahead of Europa League match against Celje

Omonia Nicosia is preparing for its upcoming UEFA Europa League match against the Slovenian club Celje, scheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2026. Following their domestic victory over Karmiotissa, coach Henning Berg’s team is shifting focus to the European campaign, aiming to replicate the performance from their opening match against Celta.

However, the team is currently managing fitness concerns for two key players. Midfielder Brouwers is considered doubtful for the trip to Slovenia after sustaining an ankle injury during the match against Karmiotissa. Additionally, Nigerian winger Akintola is dealing with a muscle injury; he was not included in the European squad list and is now in a race against time to recover for the upcoming domestic league match against Olympiacos on Monday.

This encounter marks the third time Celje has faced a Cypriot opponent, having previously played against AEK and APOEL. The technical staff is monitoring both injured players closely, with further assessments expected to determine their availability for the immediate future.
