Road construction and traffic disruptions across Cyprus
Cyprus is currently experiencing multiple traffic disruptions due to ongoing roadworks and maintenance projects across the island. On the Limassol-Paphos motorway, significant congestion is reported in the direction of Paphos, as the section between Agia Varvara and Geroskipou is closed. Traffic is being diverted to the old road via the Agia Varvara, Kouklia, and Anatoliko exits, with re-entry permitted at Geroskipou. Additionally, the Astromeritis-Evrychou motorway is affected by the installation of telecommunications infrastructure, requiring both lanes to be closed per direction on October 13 and 14.
In Nicosia, the municipality has scheduled asphalt paving at the BATA roundabout for October 15, followed by closures on Salaminos Avenue on October 19, Dimostheni Severi Avenue on October 20, and the Presidential Avenue from October 21 to 22. These works are primarily conducted at night, from 21:00 to 06:00. Other ongoing maintenance includes vegetation clearing on the Larnaca-Kofinou motorway until October 9 and periodic watering of greenery on the Limassol-Nicosia motorway until November 30. Authorities urge drivers to exercise caution, follow police instructions, and monitor official updates for further traffic adjustments.
