Public dispute intensifies between Anna Vissi and Nikos Karvelas
A public dispute has erupted between singer Anna Vissi and composer Nikos Karvelas following Vissi’s recent anniversary concert at OAKA stadium. The conflict, which began in early October 2026, centers on significant financial disagreements. Sources close to the singer claim Karvelas demanded an additional 1.5 million euros in an extortionate manner, despite having previously received 700,000 euros directly and 250,000 euros for intellectual property rights. Karvelas has countered by alleging creative differences, citing his exclusion from production decisions and concerns over ticket pricing. Consequently, the composer has prohibited Vissi from performing his songs, and the case has moved toward legal action.
Amidst the tension, Vissi has traveled to Paris with her business associate Dimitra Kousta to attend Celine Dion’s concert. On social media, Vissi recently shared a video of people singing the song 'Kontra'—a track written by Dan Wilson and Myrtou Kontova—with the caption suggesting she will continue performing songs not authored by Karvelas. Legal representation for Vissi, led by Michalis Dimitrakopoulos, has stated that there is currently no room for an out-of-court settlement. Future collaboration on an album remains uncertain, as the legal battle over intellectual property rights continues.
