President Christodoulides hosts youth cabinet meeting
On October 12, 2026, President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides chaired a special cabinet-style meeting at the Presidential Palace as part of the “Pare Thesi” (Take a Stand) program. During the session, individuals aged 17 to 35 assumed the roles of ministers and deputy ministers to present specific proposals and recommendations regarding their respective government portfolios.
President Christodoulides emphasized that the initiative is intended to be substantive rather than merely symbolic, encouraging the young participants to engage in open dialogue and offer criticism on government policy. He highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in decision-making, noting that ministers must consider the broader impact of policies beyond their specific departments.
The initiative aims to foster participative democracy by integrating youth perspectives into official government processes. The President pledged that the proposals submitted by the participants will be thoroughly evaluated and, where feasible, promoted for implementation to address the current concerns of the younger generation.
