28th Marios Agathangelou International Road Race held in Limassol
On Sunday, October 11, 2026, the 28th Marios Agathangelou International Road Race took place along the coastal front of Limassol. The event, which serves as the opening for the annual 'Lemesia' festival, saw record-breaking participation from hundreds of professional and amateur athletes, including families and children. Limassol Mayor Giannis Armeftis attended the event to praise the participants, organizers, and volunteers, emphasizing the city's commitment to upgrading sports infrastructure and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
The race is dedicated to the memory of athlete and educator Marios Agathangelou and has become a landmark sporting event in Cyprus over its nearly thirty-year history. Beyond its athletic focus, the 2026 edition maintained a strong social mission by supporting the Panos Evripidou Foundation, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of premature infants and their families. The municipal cycling team also participated in the event, highlighting the local government's active involvement in city sports initiatives. This year's turnout exceeded all previous attendance records, reflecting growing public interest in communal fitness and charitable sports activities in the region.
