India’s Defence Secretary visits Cyprus and Greece to bolster strategic ties
India’s Defence Secretary, Rajesh Kumar Singh, is conducting an official visit to Cyprus and Greece from October 12 to 15, 2026. During his two-day stay in Cyprus on October 12 and 13, Singh is scheduled to meet with his counterparts at the Cypriot Ministry of Defence, including Minister Vasilis Palmas, as well as other national leadership figures. The visit is intended to facilitate discussions regarding maritime security and defence industrial cooperation.
This diplomatic mission follows a series of high-level engagements aimed at cementing New Delhi's partnerships within the European Union. Notably, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides visited India in May 2026, a move that provided significant momentum to the bilateral strategic partnership. Furthermore, the Greek defence minister engaged in formal talks with his Indian counterpart, Rajnath Singh, in February 2026, highlighting a broader trend of growing defence coordination between India, Athens, and Nicosia.
Following his engagements in Cyprus, Secretary Singh will travel to Greece for the remainder of his tour, where he is slated to meet with senior military and defence officials. These consultations are expected to reaffirm the mutual commitment of all involved parties to deepen collaboration, particularly within the maritime domain.
