Thibaut Courtois to sign contract extension with Real Madrid
Thibaut Courtois is set to remain with Real Madrid after reaching a verbal agreement to extend his contract with the Spanish club. The 34-year-old Belgian goalkeeper, whose current deal was scheduled to expire at the end of this season, has agreed to a new extension that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until the conclusion of the 2027-28 season. Club officials reportedly view the veteran shot-stopper as a vital member of their squad, prompting the swift negotiations.
Since joining Real Madrid from Chelsea in August 2018 for a reported fee of 35 million euros, Courtois has made 342 appearances across all competitions. His highly successful tenure with the club includes winning two Champions League titles, two European Super Cups, three La Liga crowns, a FIFA Club World Cup, one Copa del Rey, and three Spanish Super Cups. The agreement is currently verbal, with formal contract signing expected to take place in the near future to finalize the extension.
