41-year-old woman arrested for attempting to poison military doctor in Peristeri
In Peristeri, Greece, a 41-year-old woman was arrested for repeatedly attempting to poison her estranged husband, a military doctor, over several months. The victim, who shares a minor child with the suspect, began experiencing symptoms such as tachycardia, dry mouth, and hallucinations as early as February 2026. Suspicion arose following an incident at a restaurant two months ago, where security footage captured the woman spiking his drink while he was away from the table.
Determined to gather evidence, the doctor installed surveillance cameras in his home. On Sunday, October 11, 2026, the cameras caught the suspect entering his apartment using a spare key while wearing a mask, gloves, and a cap. She was recorded injecting an unknown substance, later identified as atropine, into various food items and water. The doctor alerted authorities while watching the footage in real-time.
Following the arrest, police discovered a bottle containing 10 ml of atropine, syringes, and medical supplies in the car belonging to the suspect's parents, who were also taken into custody as alleged accomplices. The suspect, reportedly a member of a research team that studied 'black widow' spider venom, is currently under investigation as legal proceedings move forward.
