Woman arrested for attempted poisoning of her husband in Peristeri
A 41-year-old woman and her parents have been arrested in Peristeri, West Attica, following accusations of an attempted murder by poisoning against her estranged husband, who is a military doctor. The victim began experiencing suspicious health symptoms after meals as early as February 2026. The investigation gained momentum two months ago after the doctor reviewed security footage from a restaurant, which allegedly showed his wife adding an unknown substance to his drink.
To secure evidence, the doctor installed hidden cameras in his home. On Sunday, October 11, 2026, the cameras captured the suspect placing a substance into food, including a jar of honey. Police subsequently discovered 10 ml of atropine, a surgical mask, gloves, and a syringe in the suspects' vehicle. The victim is currently receiving medical care, and authorities have taken the wife and her parents into custody as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into the premeditated act.
While the victim and suspect share a minor child and are currently in a state of separation, the motives behind the poisoning remain under official scrutiny. The case has caused significant public alarm in the local area as legal proceedings continue.
