Akrotiri: Eleonora's falcon survey – 404 records, 50+ shags and herring gulls

The annual survey of the Eleonora's falcon conducted by the Akrotiri Environmental Education and Information Centre and the Game and Fauna Service recorded 404 individuals along the cliffs from Akrotiri to Cape Aspro. Carried out on September 25 and October 6 in cooperation with BirdLife Cyprus, the census also identified over 50 shags and several herring gulls. Officials emphasized that Cyprus hosts the easternmost breeding population of this raptor, necessitating long-term systematic monitoring to ensure the species' continued protection.
