Two men executed in Iran despite international condemnation
A 25-year-old man named Alireza was executed in Iran last week, hours after marrying his partner over the phone while in prison. While one source identifies him as a man convicted of a murder related to a teenage dispute, another report describes him as being executed alongside a 21-year-old named Alireza Raisi. The latter was reportedly convicted for the deaths of Iranian security personnel during anti-regime protests in Isfahan.
In the case of Raisi, a final emotional audio recording surfaced featuring his last conversation with his father from Isfahan prison. In the call, Raisi expressed pride in his family and mentioned his cousin, Ramin Raisi, who was killed during a demonstration on January 9. The executions were carried out despite international outcries and attempts to postpone the sentences, drawing widespread criticism regarding human rights and the judicial treatment of juvenile offenders and political dissidents in the country.
