Recent wave of drone attacks reported across multiple Russian regions
Over the past few days, several Russian regions have faced intensified drone strikes, resulting in casualties and infrastructure damage. In the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, local officials reported three deaths and 16 injuries following a series of attacks occurring between Friday and Monday. One victim died on Friday, while others were killed during weekend and overnight assaults that also targeted vehicles.
Simultaneously, strikes were reported in other parts of Russia. In the Stavropol region, specifically the industrial city of Nevinnomyssk, air defenses intercepted drones targeting local chemical plants, with falling debris causing unspecified damages. Further inland, the Saratov region suffered a drone strike in the city of Balakovo, where one person was killed and several residential houses were damaged. The area is notable for hosting a nuclear power plant and a major hydroelectric facility on the Volga River. Additionally, Moscow-appointed officials in the Russian-controlled part of the Donetsk region reported one death from a separate Ukrainian strike.
Local authorities in affected areas, including governors Roman Busargin and Vladimir Vladimirov, have urged citizens to exercise caution and avoid approaching wreckage. While the situation remains volatile, local emergency services are assessing the extent of the damages across the industrial and residential sites.
