Cypriot clubs prepare for upcoming European football matches
Following a 20-day hiatus in domestic competition, Cypriot clubs Omonia and Pafos FC are set to resume European action this Thursday, October 15. Omonia will travel to Slovenia to face Celje in the second round of the Europa League League Phase, with kickoff scheduled for 19:45. Simultaneously, Pafos FC will compete in the Conference League, facing Atalanta in Bergamo at 22:00 for their League Phase opening match.
UEFA has finalized the officiating teams for both fixtures. The Omonia versus Celje match will be overseen by Azerbaijani referee Elchin Masiyev, assisted by an all-Azerbaijani crew, while Italian official Luca Pairetto will manage the VAR. For the Pafos FC encounter against Atalanta, Swedish referee Adam Ladeback has been appointed to lead the officiating team. Belgian referee Jan Boterberg will oversee the VAR operations for this match.
These matches represent a significant return to international duty for the Cypriot teams after the recent break in domestic schedules. The clubs remain focused on their respective campaigns as they integrate back into the rigorous pace of European tournament football.
