Trial of 36-year-old accused of kidnapping in Larnaca adjourned
The Larnaca Permanent Assize Court has adjourned the trial of a 36-year-old man, of African descent, until November 4, 2026. The defendant remains in custody after appearing before the court on Monday, October 12, where he maintains a plea of not guilty to the eleven criminal charges filed against him.
The charges stem from an incident on March 25, 2026, when police responded to a report at approximately 15:30. The defendant is accused of kidnapping and threatening two women with a knife in a Larnaca apartment. The eleven charges include kidnapping with the intent to confine, kidnapping to cause actual bodily harm, issuing threats of violence, assault causing actual bodily harm, psychological abuse, illegal possession of a knife, and unlawful entry.
The case will proceed in November to address these serious allegations. The defendant has been held in detention since his arrest following the reported events in March, and the court's decision to delay the proceedings ensures he remains in custody while awaiting further trial developments.
