Viability study completed for the long-delayed Paphos to Coral Bay coastal road
A long-awaited viability study for the coastal road connecting Kato Paphos and Coral Bay has been officially submitted and is currently undergoing evaluation. DISY Member of Parliament for Paphos, Charalambos Pazaros, confirmed that the report was delivered to the Directorate General for Development on September 16. This development marks a significant shift for a project that has been stalled for over three decades, despite experiencing delays relative to the initial planning schedule.
The project is now advancing toward the critical stage of land expropriations and the completion of necessary surveying work. While the Land Registry has been working on the required processes for several months, Pazaros warned that the timeline for these expropriations might extend beyond the previous estimate of mid-2027. Despite these procedural challenges, officials maintain that the project is at its most advanced stage in decades and has a clear path forward. The current phase follows a standard evaluation procedure designed to issue final findings according to a set timetable, effectively overcoming the most recent obstacle that had previously caused public concern.
