Keravnos Strovolou faces Nitra Blue Wings in FIBA Europe Cup
Keravnos Strovolou is set to face the Slovakian team Nitra Blue Wings in the second round of Group D in the FIBA Europe Cup. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, at 19:00 local time (Cyprus time) and will be held at the Mestská športová hala in Nitra, Slovakia, a venue with a capacity of 2,000 spectators. The game will be broadcast live via FIBA’s official YouTube channel.
The Cypriot side enters the match following a strong 88-70 victory over Estonia’s BC Parnu, while Nitra Blue Wings is coming off an 88-81 away loss to the Polish club King Szczecin. Keravnos captain Simon Michail, who has been managing a calf injury, expects to be available for selection. Michail noted that the Slovakian opponent plays at a higher tempo with an aggressive defense, led by two highly athletic guards. He also emphasized that Keravnos aims to exploit potential defensive vulnerabilities caused by the height of the Slovakian team's 2.23-meter center.
Nitra Blue Wings finished third in the Slovak national championship last season. The team is managed by head coach and general manager Martin Blaho, a former international player. The match is a critical step for both teams as they continue their group stage campaign in the tournament.
