Environmental group criticizes infrastructure at Venus Beach in Paphos
The Environmental Cultural Association of Chloraka (PPOX) has issued a formal complaint regarding the deteriorating condition of facilities at the popular Venus Beach in Paphos. As of October 2026, the organization highlighted persistent issues with the shower systems, noting that improper construction materials and visible grime on the walls significantly degrade the aesthetic quality of the coastal area. Furthermore, the group reported a lack of clear signage for recycling initiatives.
Despite previous official assurances that construction repairs and improvements would be implemented to address these concerns, PPOX claims that no substantive progress has been observed. While the group acknowledged that some painting work had been carried out, it argues that these superficial actions do not resolve the underlying functional and maintenance problems affecting the beach's infrastructure.
Following the public criticism, Angelos Onisiforou, the acting Mayor of Paphos, responded to the concerns raised by the association. On October 13, 2026, he pledged to personally oversee an immediate investigation into the state of the facilities at Venus Beach. The municipal authorities are now expected to conduct an inspection to determine the necessary corrective actions to improve the site's condition for visitors.
