Cyprus Interior Minister opens Historical Studies Academy lecture series

On October 13, 2026, Cyprus Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou inaugurated the lecture series of the Academy of Historical Studies for the 2026-2027 academic year. The event took place at the Foundation of the National Liberation Struggle 1955-1959 in Nicosia.

Minister Ioannou served as the inaugural keynote speaker, delivering a presentation titled 'The EOKA Struggle through the Press of the Era.' During the event, a photographic exhibition curated by the Press and Information Office (PIO) titled 'EOKA 1955-1959' was also presented. In his address, the Minister emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory and examining how the struggle was documented and imprinted in the collective consciousness through contemporary media.
