Cyprus Civil Defence announces mandatory service registration
The Cyprus Civil Defence has issued a call-up for mandatory two-year service for specific demographic groups residing in areas controlled by the Republic of Cyprus. Following a cabinet decision and under the Civil Defence Regulations of 1997, all female citizens born in 2004 and all male citizens born in 1972 and 1973 are required to register for duty.
The registration process is scheduled to take place at regional Civil Defence directorates, local stations, and community council offices across the districts of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos, and Famagusta. Women are required to register between Monday, October 19, and Friday, October 23, 2026. For men, the registration period is set from Monday, November 9, to Friday, November 13, 2026. Applicants must present their national identity cards during the process.
While general office hours apply, registration times in urban centers such as Nicosia, Limassol, and Larnaca are split between morning and evening sessions, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The measure is part of the state's ongoing civil protection protocol to maintain operational readiness.
