Houthis attempt to manufacture advanced ballistic missiles with Chinese components
A report by Conflict Armament Research reveals that the Houthi movement is sourcing materials from a Chinese supplier to manufacture a version of the Kheibar Shekan, one of Iran’s most powerful ballistic missiles. Findings were based on information provided by Yemeni authorities in July, following the seizure of two shipments over the past year. Recovered items included specialized missile components such as airframe parts, motor sections, and flight stabilization fins.
This development suggests a strategic effort by the Houthis to build intermediate-range ballistic missiles locally. Reports from the Wall Street Journal indicate that the group aims to develop missiles with a range exceeding 3,000 kilometers. Such a capability would significantly increase the threat level to regional targets, including Riyadh and Israel, by extending the group's operational reach far beyond its current limits.
