Sharp reduction in UK-to-Cyprus flights expected this winter
Direct flight services between the United Kingdom and Cyprus are set to decrease by more than half during the upcoming winter season, according to an analysis by the travel website IsleFare. The study, based on data from Hermes Airports, indicates that weekly flight frequency will drop from approximately 103 in November to roughly 48 by January.
The decline will disproportionately affect Paphos Airport, where weekly flights are projected to fall from about 62 in November to 19 in January. In contrast, Larnaca Airport will experience a more modest reduction, moving from 41 to 29 weekly flights. This relative stability at Larnaca is attributed to British Airways, which maintains consistent daily service from Heathrow throughout the winter months. Other leisure airlines, including Jet2, TUI, and easyJet, typically pause or scale back operations at regional UK airports after November.
Flight numbers are scheduled to stabilize at 64 combined weekly services in December, with a slight dip to 60 in February to account for the school half-term break. Operations are expected to rebound to November levels by March, reaching a total of 101 weekly flights. Officials note that these figures are based on current indicative schedules and remain subject to change as airlines adjust their capacity.
