Limassol District Organization recognized at European Water-Smart Awards

The Limassol District Organization (EOA Limassol) was selected as a finalist in the "Water-Smart City and Region" category at the Water-Smart Awards 2026, held during the Water Innovation Europe conference in Dublin, Ireland, on October 13, 2026. The organization was represented by its Director of Technical Services, Michalis Vryonides, at the ceremony where the Spanish city of Sabadell was announced as the category winner.

The nomination recognized EOA Limassol’s initiative, the "Limassol Smart Water Network Living Lab," which focuses on the digital modernization of water infrastructure to reduce waste and improve resource management. This initiative includes a €12 million investment, funded through the Recovery and Resilience Plan, aimed at installing 80,000 smart water meters and over 200 monitoring sensors across the network. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to enhance the sustainability and resilience of the region's water supply systems.
