Green Week 2026 launches in Limassol focusing on sustainability and urban transport
Green Week 2026 commenced on October 14, 2026, in Limassol with a roundtable discussion at the Panos Solomonidis Hall focused on the green transition of local authorities and the city's traffic challenges. The event was attended by government officials, local leaders, academics, and business representatives, including Minister of Transport Evi Tsolaki, Limassol Mayor Yiannis Armeftis, and EOA President Yiannis Tsouloftas. The opening event was hosted by the Cypronetwork Group and supported by the Green Energy Group.
In parallel, the 'EMEL Green Route' initiative took place on October 13, highlighting the role of public transport and electric mobility. City officials and company executives rode one of EMEL’s 35 electric buses from the Limassol Municipality to a new electric vehicle charging station in Polemidia. The demonstration emphasized the necessity of developing modern charging infrastructure to improve urban mobility and reduce the environmental impact of public transportation.
