Joshua Huck named charge d'affaires at U.S. Embassy in Greece
Joshua Huck has officially assumed the role of charge d'affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Athens as of October 14, 2026. This transition follows the departure of Kimberly Guilfoyle, who was removed from her position as ambassador. Huck, who previously served as the deputy chief of mission, will lead the embassy during this interim period until a new ambassador is officially appointed.
Huck is a career diplomat who joined the U.S. Foreign Service in 2001. His extensive background includes assignments in Shanghai, Tokyo, Sofia, Naypyidaw, Taipei, and Hong Kong. He previously served as deputy assistant secretary of state for Southern Europe and the Caucasus and as director of the Office of Southern European Affairs, where he managed policy concerning Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, and Malta. He also held roles in Washington, including serving as chief of staff to Kurt Campbell.
As the new head of the mission, Huck will oversee bilateral programs and strategic cooperation between the United States and Greece. His appointment serves as a transition phase for the diplomatic delegation following the recent personnel changes within the embassy's leadership.
