Cyprus weather forecast update: Unstable conditions and low pressure
Cyprus has been affected by a period of unstable weather and low atmospheric pressure since October 14, 2026, leading to scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms, and local hail across the island. The weather phenomena were particularly frequent in the western and northern parts of the country, accompanied by occasional strong winds reaching 5 to 6 Beaufort. Temperatures remained below seasonal norms, hovering around 23°C to 26°C in inland and coastal areas, while mountainous regions like Troodos experienced significantly cooler conditions, with temperatures dropping as low as 6°C at night.
After several days of intermittent rain and cloud cover, the meteorological conditions are expected to stabilize from Sunday, October 18, as a weak high-pressure system begins to influence the region. While local cloud cover may persist, the island will transition toward clearer skies. From Monday through Wednesday, the weather is forecast to be mainly clear with minimal temperature fluctuations, maintaining levels slightly below the average climatological values for mid-October. Residents are advised to stay informed through official updates from the Meteorological Department as the transition to more stable conditions proceeds.
