Integration of disability benefits into a new support program in Cyprus

The Department for Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities, under the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare in Cyprus, has announced the transition of disability and home care allowances into the new Personal Assistance and Home Care Allowance. This change follows the implementation of Law 96(I)/2026 and a Cabinet decision dated July 2, 2026, aimed at modernizing support for individuals with disabilities.

The process, which involves an automated transfer of records from the Welfare Benefits Management Service, requires no action from beneficiaries. For approximately 3,000 children with disabilities, the transfer begins in October, with payments scheduled for October 27, 2026. For about 8,600 adults, the transfer will conclude in November, with payments set for November 26, 2026.

Monthly increases of 10% have already been initiated by the Welfare Benefits Management Service. Furthermore, the authorities confirmed that retroactive payments covering the increase since January 1, 2026, will be distributed gradually to eligible recipients as part of this administrative reform.
