Cyprus weather forecast: unstable conditions to persist until Saturday
Low atmospheric pressure continues to affect Cyprus, bringing unstable weather conditions including scattered rain and isolated thunderstorms. The current system, which follows heavy storms that caused flooding and power outages in Paphos, Limassol, and Larnaca on Wednesday, is expected to persist until Saturday. According to the Meteorological Department, today's weather remains partially cloudy with showers primarily expected in the mountains, inland, and along the northern coast. Temperatures are forecast to reach approximately 26 degrees Celsius in inland and coastal areas, and 14 to 16 degrees in the higher mountains, figures that remain below the seasonal average.
Weather conditions are expected to show significant improvement starting Sunday, as a weak high-pressure system begins to influence the region. Senior meteorological officer Michalis Mouskos indicated that while unstable conditions characterize the next few days, the severity of the phenomena will continue to decrease. Authorities have noted that although today features potential for strong winds reaching 4 to 5 on the Beaufort scale in some areas, no formal severe weather warnings were in effect as of Friday morning. Residents are advised to expect cooler conditions with possible morning mist or low clouds forming inland until the weekend concludes.
