Weather update: Cyprus experiences unsettled conditions with improvement expected from Sunday
Cyprus is currently under the influence of weak low atmospheric pressure, causing unstable weather conditions, including scattered showers and potential thunderstorms. According to senior meteorological officer Michalis Mouskos, this instability is expected to persist through Saturday, October 17. Daytime temperatures remain slightly below seasonal averages, peaking at approximately 25°C to 27°C across inland areas and the coast, while dropping to around 6°C to 14°C in the mountains. Residents can expect localized cloud cover, with isolated rain forecast for the northern and western coastal areas and mountainous regions throughout the weekend.
From Sunday, October 18, a shift in weather patterns is anticipated as a weak high-pressure system moves into the region. This transition is expected to bring a gradual improvement, with mostly clear skies forecast for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Winds will generally be light to moderate, occasionally reaching force 5 on the Beaufort scale in coastal areas during the afternoon. The sea is expected to remain slightly rough, particularly in the western and northern parts of the island, before settling with the arrival of high pressure.
