32-year-old woman dies following road accident in Limassol
Afroditi Georgiou, a 32-year-old woman, died on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, after spending over a month in a private clinic following a traffic collision. The accident occurred on September 2, 2026, at approximately 8:50 a.m. on Aisopou Street in the Agios Nikolaos area of Limassol. Georgiou was attempting to cross the street when she was struck by a vehicle driven by a 65-year-old woman.
The victim suffered severe head injuries during the collision and required hospitalization. Her condition deteriorated significantly during her stay, eventually necessitating intubation before she passed away. Following her death, a post-mortem examination was performed by medical examiner Nicolas Charalambous. While the initial findings did not conclusively establish a direct cause of death, tissue samples have been sent for histopathological analysis to provide further clarity.
Limassol Traffic Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, which has now been classified as a fatal road collision. The funeral service for Afroditi Georgiou is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Holy Cross Church in Agios Therapontas, with the family requesting that attendees wear white.
