Delays persist in Larnaca port and marina development project
Implementation of the €415 million Larnaca port and marina redevelopment project remains stalled due to unresolved legal and ownership issues. Although a development roadmap was presented by the Cyprus Ports Authority (CPA) last July, the project has failed to meet its initial implementation schedule.
Following a meeting on October 13, 2026, between Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras, Minister of Transport Evi Tsolaki, and CPA officials, it was confirmed that legal hurdles for the port development have been successfully addressed. However, the marina component remains in legal limbo. The government is currently awaiting a definitive solution regarding the marina's ownership status, which has prevented work from commencing as planned.
Minister Tsolaki assured stakeholders that the overall development roadmap will proceed despite these obstacles. The government and the CPA have committed to providing a resolution for the marina’s status in the near future, although no specific timeline for the commencement of site works was provided following the meeting.
