68-year-old priest arrested in Grevena for revenge porn and domestic threats

A 68-year-old priest from Grevena was arrested following a complaint filed by his 43-year-old former partner from Larissa. The woman approached the Larissa Public Prosecutor’s Office, leading to a police investigation that resulted in the seizure of the priest's mobile phone. Authorities reportedly discovered personal photographs of the complainant on the device, forming the basis for charges of revenge porn and domestic threats. The case is scheduled for trial at the Larissa misdemeanor court on Friday, October 16.

The defendant acknowledges having had a previous relationship with the woman but explicitly denies the revenge porn allegations. He claims the conflict is purely financial, asserting that the woman owes him money for commissioned iconography that was never delivered. Following his arrest, the priest was released with a court-imposed condition prohibiting any communication with the complainant.

In response to the criminal charges, the Holy Metropolis of Grevena has relieved the priest of his administrative duties and replaced him while awaiting further information from the prosecutor’s office. The trial process serves as the next step in determining the validity of the competing claims made by both parties.
