Counter-terrorism exercise scheduled at the Central Bank of Cyprus
The Cyprus Police have announced a comprehensive counter-terrorism exercise, designated "Chrysos 2026," to be held at the Central Bank of Cyprus on Friday, October 16, 2026. The drill is scheduled to take place between 09:00 and 11:00 local time.
The exercise is designed as a full-scale field deployment aimed at simulating realistic operational conditions to evaluate the readiness and response capabilities of involved security services. The primary objectives include testing the effectiveness of security measures, verifying operational coordination procedures, and strengthening cooperation between state and private entities in the event of a terrorist threat to the financial institution. Additionally, the initiative intends to familiarize personnel with crisis management protocols and the practical application of the Central Bank's emergency response plans.
This exercise represents a collaborative effort between the Cyprus Police and the Central Bank of Cyprus as part of their ongoing partnership to ensure institutional security. Several specialized units and departments of the police force are slated to participate in the simulation.
