Apollon Limassol faces Nea Salamina without Gari Rodrigues as Connor Goldson returns
Apollon Limassol hosts Nea Salamina today, October 17, 2026, at 19:00 at the Alphamega Stadium for the sixth round of the Cyprus League. Ahead of the match, Apollon coach Hernan Losada faces a significant setback as star winger Gari Rodrigues is ruled out due to a calf muscle injury sustained during training. The 35-year-old had been a key offensive contributor, recording four goals and four assists this season.
In a major positive development for the club, English central defender Connor Goldson has returned to the matchday squad. Goldson, who underwent open-heart surgery last July, received official medical clearance after a lengthy recovery period. While he was named on the bench for tonight’s encounter, his return marks a significant boost for the team's leadership and defensive depth. Losada confirmed that the international break allowed players recovering from injuries to gain match fitness, and he emphasized the importance of Goldson's presence in the squad moving forward.
Apollon currently sits fifth in the league standings with nine points from five matches. The team remains focused on securing a victory to maintain their momentum following their recent 3-1 win against Krasava ENY.
