Apollon secures 4-2 victory against Nea Salamina in Cyprus League

On October 17, 2026, Apollon Limassol defeated Nea Salamina 4-2 at the Alphamega Stadium during the 6th round of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan. Apollon took an early 2-0 lead through goals by Escriche in the 8th minute and Brandon Thomas from a penalty in the 22nd minute. Nea Salamina responded by leveling the score 2-2 with a brace from Grancir, but Malekkidis restored Apollon's lead just before halftime. Ozbolt secured the 4-2 final score by converting a penalty in the 75th minute.

A significant moment occurred in the 86th minute when Apollon’s English defender Connor Goldson made his official debut after a long absence following open-heart surgery. The player was greeted with standing ovations from the home crowd.

Apollon coach Hernan Losada expressed satisfaction with the team’s offensive output and the result that propelled them to the top of the table. However, he voiced concerns regarding the defensive lapses that allowed Nea Salamina to equalize. Additionally, Losada noted suspicious observations regarding the opponents appearing to know the team’s tactical setups for set-pieces, an issue he plans to investigate internally. Following this win, Apollon sits at 12 points, tied with AEL and AEK.
