Aris Servetalis discusses faith and his upcoming role as Saint Joseph the Hesychast

On October 13, 2026, Greek actor Aris Servetalis appeared at the Holy Church of Saint Demetrios in Thessaloniki during the 'Demetria 2026' festival. Sporting a notably altered appearance with long hair and a thick beard, the actor participated in a discussion titled 'Spiritual Ethos and the Actor's Art.' This change in appearance is attributed to his preparation for an upcoming television series where he will portray Saint Joseph the Hesychast, a project written by Giorgos Tsiakkas for MEGA channel.

During the event, Servetalis spoke extensively about his personal spiritual journey and the challenges of his profession. He openly discussed the struggle with vanity inherent in acting and expressed his desire to seek spiritual refuge. When asked what he would ask of Jesus Christ, the actor responded that he would pray to be taken into the Kingdom of God, comparing his sentiment to that of the thief crucified alongside Christ. He reflected on his childhood exposure to the lives of saints and his eventual return to his faith after a period of personal difficulty in his adult life.
