Hellenic Police dismantle criminal gang in Megara
The Hellenic Police have successfully dismantled a criminal organization operating in Megara, Greece, following an extensive operation conducted on October 10, 2026. The gang, which had been active since January 2026, specialized in telephone fraud, residential burglaries, and the theft of catalytic converters across the Attica region. Authorities have linked the group to 78 distinct criminal cases, resulting in an estimated total illegal profit of approximately 350,000 euros.
During the police operation, executed by the Megara Crime Investigation Department with support from the West Attica Sub-directorate and the OPKE special forces, six individuals aged between 24 and 38 were arrested. A formal criminal file has been opened, which also identifies eight other suspects. Investigations revealed that the criminal network operated through three main pillars, including telephone scams involving fake claims regarding electricity bills and tax office issues. The police have released video documentation of the tactical entry into the group's headquarters. The investigation into the full extent of the organization's activities remains ongoing as authorities process the gathered evidence.
