Cyprus University of Technology launches new school in Larnaca
The Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK) is set to open its new School of Marine Sciences, Technology and Sustainable Development in Larnaca. During a joint media briefing, Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras and TEPAK Rector Panagiotis Zaphiris announced that the Sustainable Development program is scheduled to accept its first students in September 2027, provided that the necessary evaluation and accreditation procedures are successfully completed. The Marine Biology program is slated to follow in September 2028 at new facilities located in the Mackenzie area.
To support the project, the Municipality of Larnaca is currently planning the construction of student housing adjacent to the school building. Officials are also nearing a resolution for the permanent housing of the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI). This announcement coincides with the upcoming ceremony for the laying of the school's foundation stone. The initiative reflects a multi-year effort, as noted by the Rector, to expand the university’s presence in the coastal city and enhance academic offerings in marine-related disciplines. Ongoing efforts focus on adhering to project timelines and ensuring the successful operation of the new campus facilities.
