Pafos FC faces travel delay in Italy following Conference League match

On October 16, 2026, the Pafos FC delegation faced travel delays at the Bergamo airport in Italy. The team was scheduled to depart for Cyprus at 11:00 local time following their 3-0 defeat against Atalanta in the opening match of the Conference League phase. All delegation members and passengers of the charter flight were already on board when the delay was announced.

Reports indicate that the disruption is caused by issues within the air traffic control system. While AlphaNews attributes the situation to a strike by air traffic controllers, Goal News Cy describes it as a general problem with the air traffic control system. Currently, the flight remains grounded at the airport while the pilot awaits authorization from the control tower to initiate the return journey.
