Sabbianco Anorthosis to face AEK Athens in EHF European Cup

Sabbianco Anorthosis, the reigning Cypriot handball champion, is set to face AEK Athens in the second round of the 2026-2027 EHF European Cup. This matchup marks the conclusion of Cyprus's six-team participation in European handball competitions for the current season. The team enters the series following a recent victory against Parnassos in the Super Cup with a score of 34-33.

The first leg of the tie will take place on Saturday, October 17, at 15:00 in Athens, where the Cypriot side hopes to secure a favorable result to carry into the second leg. The return match is scheduled for Sunday, October 25, at the Kition stadium in Larnaca. Anorthosis aims to advance in the tournament to extend their European journey as far as possible.

In addition to Sabbianco Anorthosis, the 2026-2027 European season has featured five other Cypriot teams: Parnassos and Omonia 29M in the men's competitions, and Mavrommatis Agiou Pavlou, E.N. Athienou, and APOEL KN Agiou Trimithias in the women's events. The involvement of these six clubs highlights a significant period for Cypriot handball on the international stage.
