Death of former judge Lefkia S. Kammitsi

Lefkia S. Kammitsi, a prominent former President of the Rent Control Court of Nicosia, Larnaca, and Famagusta, has passed away. Her death has been mourned by the Cyprus Bar Association and various regional legal bodies, including the Nicosia and Kyrenia Bar Associations, who highlighted her professional dedication and significant contribution to Cyprus’s legal jurisprudence over her two-decade career.

Throughout her long tenure at the Rent Control Court, Kammitsi played a critical role in shaping rental law in the country. Following her retirement from the judiciary, she demonstrated a commitment to her colleagues by donating a portion of her personal legal library to the Kyrenia Bar Association to serve as a resource for other professionals.

The funeral service for Lefkia S. Kammitsi is scheduled to take place on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of the Wisdom of God in Strovolos. The family will receive condolences at the church starting at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of wreaths, the family has requested that donations be made to Europa Donna Cyprus and the 'Alkyonides' Association.
