Nicosia police issue public appeal regarding a man found in the city

On October 16, 2026, the Cyprus Police issued a public request for assistance in identifying a man found in Nicosia. The individual, who is in good health but unable to communicate, was located by officers, and authorities have been unable to determine his identity or place of residence. The police have released a photograph to facilitate the process of reuniting the man with his family.

Initial reporting on the same day by various media outlets mistakenly linked the photograph to a separate, ongoing theft investigation involving an incident from July 17, 2026. However, later reports clarified that the appeal is specifically for the identification of the non-communicative man found on October 16. The authorities are continuing their inquiries and emphasize the importance of public cooperation in this matter.

Anyone with information that could assist in identifying the man is urged to contact the Central Police Station of Nicosia at 22-802380, any local police station, or the Citizen's Line at 1460. The police investigation into his background remains ongoing as they seek to confirm his personal details and facilitate his safe return home.
